The legs are very old table legs we found in a reclaim salvage yard in KC, the sides are pallet wood and the top is old barn wood. I don’t want to cover up the rustic elements. I considered painting and roughing the top.  So I roughed up the top, added walnut stain and semi-gloss clear coat, white washed the sides, roughed it up and then topped with clear Briwax and all I did to the legs was wipe them with Howard Feed-n-Wax. At Don’s Woodcraft shop, we kind of like it!
